In India - That's where it all began.
Not with a collection. Not with a brand. But with a journey back.
I was adopted from India, and when the idea for Marba first took shape, I knew one thing: I wanted to start there. In the country where I didn't grow up, but which is still a part of me. I wanted to do this for real – with openness, respect and curiosity.
So I traveled there. With my two small children still at home in Stockholm, and a brain full of questions. I had never worked in the fashion industry, but I knew what I wanted: to find a place where clothes are not just produced – but created with care, I wanted to connect to my history and build a relationship with a world that is mine [ML1] . I visited factories, felt fabrics, learned about processes, met people. Got to know people. And finally I found a smaller factory where work environment, craftsmanship and quality go hand in hand. Where relationships count and are highly valued. Where my idea, desire and aspiration could take root – in a country I don’t know, but still where I belong.
At the same time, back home in Sweden, there were my children. The ones who are always on the move. Who run ahead, fall, get up, climb higher. Who love color, play and freedom. They were the ones who made me dare. I wanted to create clothes for them – and for all children who move through the world just as they are.
Clothes that don't restrict. That don't tell a child what to like, feel or be. Clothes that follow the body, breathe with play, hold up to adventures – and wash like a dream.
Marba Studio was born from all of this: a personal journey, two children, and a longing for clothes that make room for childhood. The first collection is small – a few sweaters in cheerful colors – but it carries something bigger. A beginning. A direction. A dream of building on, slowly and with care. With you!
The garments are designed to be loved, washed, inherited. And to let children be just that: children.
